DynDNS on a Synology NAS: step-by-step setup

Synology's DSM lets you add a custom DDNS provider so your DiskStation stays reachable under a permanent hostname. With DNS Beacon your NAS follows your changing IP automatically. Here's the configuration.

Step by step

  1. Open the admin interface of your Synology NAS and go to Control Panel → External Access → DDNS → Add.
  2. Enter the values below. Your username is your account email, your password is an API key from the dashboard.
  3. Save the settings. Your hostname now updates automatically whenever your IP changes — usually within a minute.
