DynDNS on Peplink Balance: step-by-step setup

Peplink Balance routers allow a custom DynDNS server in the Dynamic DNS Settings of each WAN connection from firmware 6.3. With DNS Beacon your network stays reachable under a permanent hostname even when your WAN IP changes. Here's how to set it up.

Step by step

  1. Open the admin interface of your Peplink Balance and go to Network → WAN → [connection] → Dynamic DNS Settings.
  2. Enter the values below. Your username is your account email, your password is an API key from the dashboard.
  3. Save the settings. Your hostname now updates automatically whenever your IP changes — usually within a minute.

From firmware 6.3 you can specify a custom DDNS server under Dynamic DNS Settings. The custom option speaks the DynDNS protocol — enter the API host as the server. Username is your email, password is an API key.
